Competition - Manga Mania at Read a Million Words

Design a Manga Character to help our Read a Million Words Superhero!

To celebrate the RAMW Champion Schools Comic Festival from May 5th – 15th May, Read a Million Words in association with TOKYOPOP and Bristol International Comic Expo are launching their brand new ‘Design a Manga Character’ Competition.

We already have our very own Read a Million Words Superhero and Super Villain, but now we want a new reading Manga character to add to our website and challenge our reading Super Villain. He or she will become The Readinator’s side-kick – standing up to make reading fun.

When designing your Manga character, think about if it will be a boy or a girl, how the name will reflect its character and what special tools they may have to help children read more for fun. For example, you could call your character something like “Blazin Googler”, whose special power is goggle-vision: he gives each child a set of kalaidescopic goggles that when worn, allow children to enter the land of a million words and read as many books as they like!

Designs can be in any format - colour or black and white. Each entry must also have an accompanying catchphrase plus a description of the character of at least 10 words but not exceeding 100.
